What year did Radar start using dots and numbers and letters instead of the squiggly lines of World War 2?

I know that the original Radar was an Oscilloscope with squiggly lines that got higher when aircraft approached and lower when the aircraft left the radar signal. But when did the current style Radar scopes come about using dots and numbers and letters to identify aircraft?
